A kick-off and methodological in-depth meeting among the 16 implementing partners of the 3 pilot projects recently granted by Never Alone was held in Turin at the Compagnia di San Paolo’s Conference Room, on 19th and 20th February 2020. These 3 pilot projects will be implemented in 3 Regions, Piedmont, Tuscany, and Sicily in the month of March 2020 for 12 months.
They aim at reaching the following outcome:
- The volunteer guardians of at least 3 Regions will have available practical tools to enhance their capacity to support migrant children close to turning 18 years old or young adults already;
- At least 240 volunteer guardians will have benefit of a targeted individual and group support sessions and coaching activity to mentor migrant unaccompanied children close to turn 18 years old or young adults already so (so called social guardianship);
- Minimum 90 trained, but not appointed, guardians will benefit from deeper in-depth into their theoretical knowledge thanks to both the strengthening and, if needed, the construction (by means of pairing/matching) of the guardian-young adult relationship (social guardianship) or thanks to the coaching of an already appointed guardian (peer-to-peer), as well as on-site visits to care facilities for children (open days)
- All the tested tools and actions will be periodically revised, updated, and shared with both the local-level and the other Regions involved in the project, in view of their diffusion on a national scale.
