National call for proposals Never Alone 2016

Reception and accompanying of foreign unaccompanied minors and young people who arrive in Italy alone

In 2016, Fondazione Cariplo, Compagnia di San Paolo, Fondazione con il Sud, Enel Cuore, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Torino, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo, Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena and Fondazione Peppino Vismara joined their efforts in the first edition of the National call for proposals “Reception and accompanying of foreign unaccompanied minors and young people who arrive in Italy alone”.

The call for proposals has selected eight projects on the Italian territory to promote both the autonomy and inclusion of young migrants in full compliance with the respect of children’s rights: financing contributions approved total € 3,5 million.

These on-going projects, launched in April 2017, involve 75 institutions between associations of the third sector and Public Bodies and advocate actions in favour of minors autonomy in the transition to adulthood, as well as the strengthening and diffusion of foster care practices and the volunteer tutors system, and girls’ reception. There are twelve Italian regions involved: four northern regions, four in the centre and four in the south, with a higher concentration in Sicily, where the presence of minors is greater.

This is a widespread system that promotes the undertaking of effective actions and that works in favour of the exchange of best practices and expertise, which may guarantee a future to young people who arrive in our Country and that, at the same time, may build a new culture of reception.
